AOL PATCH IS NOW HALE GLOBAL PATCH
On Dec 29th Patch, as we have known it for the past 7 years and the creation of AOL CEO Tim Armstrong, came to an end when hundreds of Patch editors were laid off during a conference call.
This leaves only a few hundred employees for the over 900 local Patch sites.
Just weeks ago AOL's money losing Patch, was sold to Hale Global and it is now being re-configured. Details as to what it will be remain uncertain.
You may remember that there were many significant layoffs in the Patch history, the last in August 2013 when another mass firing by conference call took place.
For at least the last 3 years Patch has gone downhill and local news reporting has been very limited as part time stringers, reporters and many editors were fired or laid off.
