Grand Champion BBQ Opens Today

Owners Robert Owens and Gregory Vivier are opening Grand Champion BBQ (GCQ)—space previously occupied by Amore’s Pizza in the Publix Shopping Center on Shallowford Road. GCQ features wood pit, slow smoked BBQ with all the fixings.

The Grand Opening begins on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and continues Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

A focus on local ingredients and purveyors brings the freshest product to this new destination and highlights the flavor. GCQ is open seven days a week for lunch & dinner. It offers dine-in, patio dining, take out and delivery. Full-service catering also is available.

Owens and Vivier have combined 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, 10 of those years working together with Concentrics Hospitality. Vivier is a classically trained French chef and has spent time with the Loews Hotel Group. Owens started his culinary career at 15 and learned the BBQ trade under Dave Roberts of Community Q, Dave Poe of Dave Poe’s BBQ & Sam Huff with BBQ 1. This is their first restaurant venture.
