East Cobb MDE School to Hold Holiday Party

An open house for prospective students will be Jan. 21.

Thanks to Karen Needle of the MDE School (Motivation Directions Through Education) in East Cobb, which will be having a holiday party for students on Thursday

Each year the children look forward to a visit from a very special, jolly Santa (one of the dads) and this year they will be getting an extra visit from a local celebrity.

Kurt Thomas, of the Kurt Thomas Band*, a rising star on the Country music scene, will be performing holiday music for one special child, his son, Van, as well as Van's 28 schoolmates.

Students and parent volunteers, as well as the teachers and music and art therapists, have been working tirelessly to make this a very, very special day for the children.

They can't wait to be "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" and jingling their bells!! Parents will be on hand to see their children experience the magic of the holidays through music, laughter and love!

The MDE School educates students with a variety of communication disorders and developmental disabilities, including autism, ADHD and sensory processing issues.

On Tuesday, January 21, 2014, MDE School will host a public Open House from 7-9 PM so the community has the opportunity to see that amazing work going on at MDE.  There will also be a Special Needs Resource Fair offered that same evening with vendors from the special needs community offering information about other resources in the Atlanta area.

MDE also shares a campus with Greater Atlanta Speech and Language Clinics which offers speech, occupational, and physical therapies to be incorporated as necessary during the school day.  MDE School accepts the Senate Bill 10 and participates in the GASSO student scholarship program.

The school is located at 1517 Johnson Ferry Road. For information about the school please call Mindy Elkan at the school at 770-971-4633 or visit www.mdeschool.com.
