East Cobb Start for Bike Ride

Georgia Rides to the Capitol pushes off from the East Cobb Government Center early Tuesday morning.

Cycling enthusiasts and others encouraging an alternate form of transportation will gather at the early Tuesday morning.

It's the starting point for Georgia Rides to the Capitol, which aims to increase awareness for cycling safety, both on the roads and with the development of more multi-use recreational trails.

Among the groups involved with and planning the event is Bike Cobb

East Cobb commissioner Bob Ott is among the local elected officials participating in the ride, which continues through Roswell and into Atlanta and the Georgia state capitol. Other starting points are sprinkled throughout the metro Atlanta area.

The ride pushes off from East Cobb promptly at 8:45 a.m., but riders are asked to arrive at least by 8:30 a.m. to prepare for the start.

Registration is required for all riders, and can be completed by going to the Georgia Rides to the Capitol registration page

The deadline to register is 5 p.m. Monday.
