East Cobb Scouts Get Camping Donations

Troop 008 has enough gear for this weekend's Camporall, but is seeking financial help to replace a stolen trailer and camping items.

Jim Srock, the scout master at Troop 008 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, has some good news to share after he asked for assistance following the theft of the troop's trailer and camping gear before this weekend's Camporall event in Blairsville. This was the e-mail he sent out late Thursday night:

We have received contact from all around the north Georgia area, as well as California and Michigan. We have secured enough temporary equipment to make this weekend's campout a success!

We have received so many offers that we could not accept some of them. We now face the task of purchasing and restocking a trailer. We have received some fantastic donations, but we have a long way to go to get back where we were.

Donations via check made out to 'Troop 008' can be sent to us in care of Wesley Chapel UMC, 4495 Sandy Plains Rd, Marietta, GA 30066.

Equipment donations can be delivered to WCUMC, or to the TruPrep locations in Marietta and Roswell.

Further information on our progress can be found on our website, www.troop008.org.

The TruPrep stores are located at 1000 Cobb Parkway in Marietta and 11230 Alpharetta Highway in Roswell.
