Cobb County Watershed Stewardship Honored by State
Over 200 volunteers were trained during 45 chemical, bacterial and marcoinvertebrate monitoring workshops.
The Cobb County Watershed Stewardship program was recently honored with the 2013 Georgia Adopt-A-Stream Watershed Award due to its work promoting the environment and teaching those in the community about best practices to help improve water quality throughout the region, according to East Cobber.
During the 2012-2013 reporting year, 10,761 Cobb residents participated in the Watershed Stewardship Program. Over 200 volunteers were trained during 45 chemical, bacterial and marcoinvertebrate monitoring workshops.
Mike Kahle, Cobb's environmental programs specialist, was recognized as the New Trainer of the Year. After conducting 55 workshops and certifying 471 volunteers, Kahle was praised for his work to educate and motivate such a great number of volunteers and participants.
