A year or so ago I was lucky enough, on a couple of occasions, to be one of the chosen to dine at PushStart Kitchen - a supper club perfectly orchestrated by Zach & Cristina Meloy. Those occasions are the kind that remain in your memory forever - magical, significant moments in your life that will never be forgotten. Yes. That's the impact a dining experience at PushStart Kitchen left on a guest Zach & Cristina were on the fast track to realizing a dream - opening their own restaurant in Atlanta. Atlanta can be very thankful that their dream is now a reality, in the form of Better Half. I finally had the opportunity to dine at Better Half last night with five of my Foodies Rock team. The experience equalled that of the amazing evenings at PushStart - food that is borne out of deep passion, with twists and turns all the way, marrying tastes of the South with the vibrant hues of Costa Rica. Each course was uniquely creative, artfully presented, and extraordinary in its flavors. I won't go into any great detail about each course I chose - I believe the description from the menu of each item says it all.
First: white and green asparagus salad, farmers cheese, grapefruit, pancetta
Second:silk handkerchief pasta, wild mushrooms, tomato marmalade, porcini cream
Third: chocolate cake, malted ice milk, cajeta, caramel corn powder
Third:lemon tart, black tea ice cream, brown butter crumb, almond praline
Yes, that's right. I had two desserts...
A beautiful touch at the end of the dinner was the offering of Costa Rican truffles - a throwback from the PushStart Kitchen times. I loved this gesture and it was the perfect end to a perfect dining experience.
