What's Happening in East Cobb, Tuesday, Jan. 18

Your daily guide to public events in the community.

1. The Cobb Board of Commissioners meets at 10 a.m. in a regular meeting rescheduled from last week. Tops on the agenda is the required financial review of the 2010 fiscal year.

2. Free blood pressure screenings will be available from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m at the East Cobb Senior Center, 3332 Sandy Plains Road. 

3. The special guest at the East Cobb Business Association luncheon meeting is Cobb police Precinct 4 Lt. Destiny Davidson, who will provide an update on crime and safety issues involving local businesses. The event begins at 11:30 a.m. at Hollycrest Hall, 2235 Sewell Mill Road. Cost is $15 for members and $20 for non-members.

4. In high school basketball, Walton is at Etowah, Wheeler is at Marietta, Pope is at Villa Rica and Walker travels to Mt. Paran. Walton's wrestlers have a dual meet at home against Sprayberry. It's also Senior Night for the Raiders. 

5. The Cobb County Police Department is holding a public hearing for input on departmental accreditation. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. at the Cobb Department of Public Safety Training Center auditorium.
