Runner Dies After Gobble Jog

Paulding County resident Allen Scott Gill collapsed as he finished the 10K benefit run in Marietta on Thursday.

A Paulding County man collapsed at the end of the Gobble Jog in Marietta and died Thursday.

Allen Scott Gill, 53, went down just as he crossed the Marietta Square finish line of the 10K run and immediately received medical attention, The Marietta Daily Journal reported, but he died at .

His wife, Rose, also ran in the benefit race for  and came upon the scene of her husband receiving treatment when she finished about five minutes later, the MDJ said.

Whitepages.com lists an Allen S. Gill in his early 50s on Victorian Circle in the Dallas area.

Ike Reighard, who started as the chief executive officer of MUST on Monday, told the MDJ that the nonprofit group will retire Allen Gill’s race number and do something else to honor him at the 10th annual Gobble Jog next year.
