Monday, June 25

The Cobb Board of Education holds a regular meeting at 1:30 p.m. in the boardroom, 514 Glover Street, Marietta, to vote on the proposed 2011-12 millage rate. 

The Cobb Board of Commissioners holds a work session at 1:30 p.m. in the BOC room, second floor, 100 Cherokee Street, Marietta. 

The Cobb Board of Commissioners will hold a final public hearing and then hold a regular meeting to vote on a proposed property tax millage rate increase at 7 p.m. in the BOC room, second floor, 100 Cherokee Street, Marietta. 

Wednesday, June 27

Whole Foods Merchants Walk officially opens its doors for business at 8 a.m., with week-long samples, demonstrations, specials and other promotions. 1100 Johnson Ferry Road.

East Cobb commissioner Bob Ott is the featured speaker at the monthly meeting of the East Cobb Civic Association at 7 p.m. East Cobb Government Services Center, 4400 Lower Roswell Road. 

Friday, June 29

The Cobb Library Foundation hosts New York Times bestselling novelist Joshilyn Jackson at the Indian Hills Country Club, 4001 Clubland Drive. Doors open at 11 a.m. Tickets are $25 each, including lunch. Event proceeds will help fund the Gail Rogers Honorary Scholarship.

Saturday, July 30

The Pope High School football team is having its annual pancake breakfast and picture day starting at 9 a.m. at the "Hound Pound" located on the school grounds, 3001 Hembree Road. Tickets are $5 per person or $20 per family.
