East Cobb Week in Review, May 29-June 3

1. -- Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church's annual holiday service paid tribute to World War II veterans and New York Fire Department 9/11 first responders, topped off by an ice cream social. 

2. -- As the school year draws to a close, nurses sought from the Board of Education raises and a greater sense of respect for the job they do.

3. -- The premises was evacuated and nearby streets around the Marietta Square were closed for 90 minutes Wednesday morning as Cobb firefighters put out a small ceiling fire in a restroom. The Cobb Sheriff's Department is investigating the source of the threat.

4. -- Citizens peppered the Cobb superintendent-designate with questions about budget issues in Dallas and other matters during a meet-and-greet session at Sprayberry High School. The school board is expected to formalize his hiring at a special meeting Sunday. 

5. -- The Marietta defense contractor explained last weekend's cyber attack and outlined a number of pending projects that could lead to additional jobs in the coming years.
