East Cobb Church Cancels BBQ Fest

The rain from Tropical Storm Lee washes away plans for Johnson Ferry Baptist Church's first Labor Day food and music festival.

has canceled its Holy Smoke BBQ and Music Festival, which was supposed to run today from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The church announced on its website that bad weather forecast all day from Tropical Storm Lee forced the decision. The National Weather Service says rain is certain throughout the day, with total precipitation of 1 to 2 inches and wind gusts up to 25 mph.

"The safety of our guests, volunteers, vendors, and musicians is our chief priority," the church statement reads. "Additionally, concern for the tents, fields, and other valuable equipment and merchandise deems it wise to cancel the event."
