A Wet Christmas for Cobb

The possibility of isolated severe thunderstorms is in the forecast for late Tuesday, and heavy rain will continue through Wednesday.

Rainy weather on Monday will continue on Christmas Day, and some stormy conditions are a possibility for late Tuesday night.

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather alert Monday indicating that a large band of severe thunderstorms will be making its way through north and central Georgia, most likely from late Christmas evening into the overnight and early morning hours on Wednesday.

The NWS alert indicated that the main concern is the possibility of isolated tornadoes and damaging winds exceeding 60 mph.

Tonight there is a chance of dense fog after 11 p.m.

The metro Atlanta forecast calls for 100 percent rain on Tuesday and around 80 percent Wednesdsay.

Highs are expected to reach the low 60s on Tuesday and the upper 50s by Wednesday.

The weather will be sunnier but cooler by the end of the week, with more rain in the forecast by the weekend.
