What's New at The Avenue?

Plenty of shops have opened recently at one of East Cobb's premiere retail centers. But what about the old Borders space?

has lost its anchor tenant, but business has been thriving in recent weeks with the opening of several new shops and a restaurant.

The Roswell Road center is still seeking a new occupant for the space once held by Borders, the retail book chain that went out of business last fall.

There's also room for another restaurant in the space formerly occupied by Johnny Rockets.

But most of the rest of the available smaller space has been taken up recently by a host of new entries to the East Cobb shopping scene:

In addition, at The Avenue recently underwent a major renovation.

On May 5, the Taste of East Cobb will return to The Avenue, its original location.

But about that old Borders store: What would you like to see move in there? If you're a book lover, could you envision another book retailer giving it a try? Let us know in the comments.

I read somewhere that Michael's was moving into the Borders space. Is that not true?

Would love a Barnes & Noble!

I had also heard about Michaels. I think East Cobber or East Cobb Snobs reported it on FB. Did this fall through? I think this space is ideal for Barnes and Noble as we are right between North Point and Barrett Parkway, and not served very conveniently by either. I hope they snap it up. We could use a large bookstore and so many were used to having one in the area for ages. It would be a natural replacement.

I read that Michael's is going in that space. I read that yesterday in the "Around Walton" publication.

I would love to see a Best Buy go into the old Borders location. The closest Best Buy locations are Town Center or 41 near 285. We could really use a store like that in this immediate area.

Barnes & Noble would be a great choice. We need a great Book Store here in East Cobb!

Barnes and Nobel would be great although the one at Perimeter is pretty close. I also had heard about Michaels taking that spot. And a side note, the Origins store is an original tenent.

Michaels is a terrible choice for that space. Michaels doesn't fit the vibe of the The Avenue, it has narrow appeal (the whole family would be happy to go to a Barnes & Noble, but dad *hates* Michaels), and Michaels isn't a good hangout. Barnes & Noble makes the most sense.
