Taqueria Tsunami a Hip New Hit

The latest eatery on the Marietta Square serves up Latin-Asian fare with flair.

I spend so much time on the  Square that I found it impossible not to wander into , the newest restaurant to make its home there.

I have to admit that I was hooked on the atmosphere alone. Hip, welcoming and open describe this Latin-Asian kitchen.

Service: Top notch. The service was very attentive and kind. The servers knew the menu from top to bottom and were very helpful selecting items that  left me hungry for more.

I should mention that I was that annoying customer who asked questions about wifi (they have it), music and the Christmas tree, and they were all answered with a smile. I got to meet the owners and they came back more than once to check on me.

Food: The menu is a selection of tacos, sides, salads, quesadillas, Tsunami bowls and more.

I started with the Cucumber Salad. You can't go wrong with this selection, assuming you like cucumbers. A subtle dressing with fresh cucumbers, it is a great compliment to the tacos I ordered. The salad is $2.

The Asada Zing Taco is perfect Bulgogi (Korean) marinated steak topped with shitake mushrooms, fresh lettuce and a subtle, yet very pleasing, soy-sesame vinaigrette. The one thing that must be said about this dish is juicy, juicy, juicy. The steak was amazing! You can really taste each distinct flavor in this taco. The tortilla was fresh and soft, making a perfect wrap to a great inside. The taco is $3.50.

The Pacific Rim Taco is grilled chili crusted Mahi topped with lettuce, pico de gallo and hoisin lime aioli. Peppery and spicy describes my first taste of this scrumptious serving. I fell in love with the hoisin lime aioli and the flavorful Mahi. I have never really liked Mahi before. I have always found it bland and unmemorable; however, I will be coming back to enjoy this flavorful blend of spice, sauce, lettuce, onion and tomato. The taco was $3.50.

With a Tsunami Trio Taco, you can order any two tacos and a side for $8.

Dessert: I had the S'more Egg Rolls, which are exactly what they sound like—marshmallow and chocolate wrapped in an egg roll topped with powder sugar. A little sugary for my taste but otherwise great. They were nice and hot with perfectly melted chocolate and marshmallow with a crunchy exterior. The egg roll order comes with two and costs $3.

Bottom Line: The bottom line is that this place gets my best rating so far: Five Stars. I've only been there once, so perhaps my experience was out of the ordinary, but I enjoyed every moment of my visit to Taqueria Tsunami.
