Stem Wine Bar Opens in East Cobb

Doug Turbush's new venture is located next to his Seed Kitchen & Bar in Merchant's Walk.

Earlier this morning, Seed Kitchen & Bar owner Doug Turbush announced that Stem, a long-planned wine bar adjacent to his restaurant at Merchant's Walk Shopping Center, is now open for business.

His spokeswoman told East Cobb Patch last week that Stem likely would open by today, following staff training, and that estimate was right on the mark.

Stem, which seats 40 guests, including 25 in a U-shaped bar, is serving 40 different boutique wines by the glass, along with a small plates menu.

Dishes include charcuterie, artisan cheeses, and casual fare paired with recommended wines.

Atlanta Eater recently sat down with Jason Raymond, Seed and Stem's sommelier.

His recommendation for newbies eager to learn about wine? Start with White Zinfandel.

No, really.

Stem's hours are 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Right now Stem's website is still under construction; updated information is on its Facebook page
