Seed Marks 2nd Year as Stem Opening Nears

The highly anticipated East Cobb wine bar may pour its first glasses next week.

A special prix fixe menu will be served Sunday as Seed Kitchen & Bar marks its second anniversary.

And sometime next week, Seed owner Doug Turbush's new wine bar venture, Stem, is expected to open next door at the Merchant's Walk Shopping Center.

A spokeswoman for Seed told East Cobb Patch Thursday that Stem (Facebook page) will open for business most likely between Wednesday and Friday of next week -- with next Thursday, Nov. 7, the "likeliest" date -- following training nights for staff earlier in the week.

Atlanta Eater recently visited Stem, which is accessible through the front door of Seed.

Sunday's anniversary menu (see attached PDF) costs $34.95 a person; the entree choices are Bay of Fundy salmon, Maple Leaf Farms duck breast and Niman Ranch pork osso bucco. Reservations are recommended and can be made on the restaurant's website.

Seed's regular menu also will be available Sunday; 100 percent of the proceeds from the special menu will be donated to Share Our Strength, which connects children in need with nutritious food and teaches their families how to cook healthy, affordable meals.
