Seed Makes 'The Atlanta 50' Places to Eat List

The Merchants Walk restaurant was among five in Cobb included in the AJC's dining out guide.

Seed Kitchen & Bar of East Cobb has been included in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's recent compilation of notable places to eat in the area.

The Atlanta 50 profile noted that Seed owner and chef Doug Turbush "dutifully satisfies your Southern cravings for pimento cheese, shrimp and grits, and deviled eggs. He also pushes you to venture out of our small corner of the planet."

Seed, which opened its doors at Merchants Walk less than two years ago, will soon unveil Stem, a wine bar located next door.

In nearby East Marietta, Tasty China, located at 585 Franklin Road, also has made the list. Says the AJC: "We still prefer the janky strip-mall Tasty China to its far fancier sibling on Powers Ferry Road. And we still find new dishes that blow us away."

Three other Cobb restaurants made the list, and they're close for East Cobb diners: The Heirloom Market BBQ on Akers Mill Road (read the Patch review); and Muss & Turner's and Canoe in the Smyrna-Vinings area.

Muss & Turner's owners are involved in a forthcoming dining venture in East Cobb they call Common Quarter; that opening is slated for the summer in the former Chepe's location on Johnson Ferry Road.

Roswell's Table and Main, which specializes in Southern dishes, is also in The Atlanta 50.
