Merchant's Walk Is Reborn

The East Cobb business story of the year has transformed the area's signature retail complex.

It was years in the making, and the revival of the Merchant's Walk Shopping Center was unveiled in gradual fashion during most of 2011. 

The purchase and overhaul of Merchant's Walk by commercial real estate developer Edens and Avant ranged from a makeover to the 12-screen movie theater to the addition of small shops and boutiques, including  and .

Existing stores Kohl's, Stein Mart and PetSmart were joined in late December 2010 by the opening of .

But it was the July 27 grand opening of , in the space formerly occupied by Media Play, that gave the new Merchant's Walk its signature event. 

That was followed by the arrival of  in September, and last month the opening of Seed Kitchen & Bar

The Merchant's Walk transformation came as Borders, the only major bookstore in East Cobb, as the troubled chain went out of business. 

Also on the East Cobb business scene, Cynthia Rozzo, the founder and publisher of the EAST COBBER magazine and website, was named the by the East Cobb Area Council of the Cobb Chamber of Commerce.
