Cobb Jobless Rate Drops in October
The county has one of the lowest unemployment figures in the metro Atlanta region.
The Cobb County unemployment rate remains one of the lowest in metro Atlanta, and it got just a little bit lower in October.
According to figures collected by the Georgia Department of Labor, Cobb's rate of jobless workers fell from 7.7 percent to 7.5 percent last month.
In the 12-county metro region, the unemployment rate also dropped from 8.3 percent in September to 8.2 in October.

The GDOL indicated that around 19,500 jobs were created in metro Atlanta, for a total of 2,353,500 jobs.
Metro Athens continued to have the lowest area jobless rate at 6.2 percent, while the state of Georgia declined to 8.7 percent in October, down three-tenths of a percentage point from 9.0 percent in September. The jobless rate was 9.7 percent in October a year ago.

In metro Atlanta, Cherokee's rate is the lowest, at 6.6 percent, followed by Fayette (7.1 percent), Gwinnett (7.3 percent) then Cobb.
