Chamber Softball Game a Thriller

Cobb business leaders edged a team of local public officials in their annual contest last week in Smyrna.

The Chamber Chargers defeated the Government Gorillas 13-12 last week in the Cobb Chamber of Commerce's annual softball contest pitting local business leaders against elected officials.

The festivities, which took place at Tolleson Park in Smyrna, featured a post-game barbecue catered by East Cobb-based .

The game began in 1975 at the behest of former Chamber executive director Phil Sanders and then-State Rep. Ken Nix, who later became a Cobb Superior Court Judge. Nix was in the charge of the Gorillas for the 36th consecutive year.
