Caribou Coffee Closes in East Cobb

Stores on Johnson Ferry Road and Powers Ferry Road served their last cups on Sunday.

The East Cobb area has two fewer coffee shops today.

The Caribou Coffee locations at 1275 Johnson Ferry Road and 2014 Powers Ferry Road closed on Sunday, as the nation's second-largest coffee shop chain shuttered 80 stores nationwide.

Workers were removing the Caribou signage from the Johnson Ferry Road store on Monday. It was located next to an Einstein Bros Bagel store which remains open.

Caribou's locations in Norcross and Decatur also were closed, and signs on the windows of the former Johnson Ferry Road store directed customers to one of six remaining Caribou shops, all inside the city of Atlanta.

An estimated 88 Caribou stores will be converted into Peet's Coffee & Tea locations in the coming months, but it wasn't sure if that includes the former East Cobb locations.
