A Fresh Taste at Chepe's Mexican Grill

This week we sample one of East Cobb's newest restaurants.

Overview: I’ll sum up this restaurant in a single word: fresh. Expecting the same look and food as the average Mexican establishment, I was pleasantly surprised upon entering Chepe's Mexican Grill's new East Cobb location on Johnson Ferry Road, in the space formerly occupied by Scalini's. The interior is filled with old ironworks and beautiful woodwork. The booths were made right onsite and provide privacy. The iron was imported from Bolivia and Colombia and gives the restaurant a feeling of authenticity.

The Food: Everything is freshly prepared – no bottled salsa here. The pico de gallo and guacamole are made hourly and are delicious. The tilapia tacos are presented like a piece of art and are really good. There’s also a 16-ounce T-Bone dinner with a Mexican twist for only $13.99. All the sides come in double portions and you are probably going to need a takeout box.

The Bar: A massive bar is flanked by widescreen TVs and would be a great place to hang out and watch a game on weekends.
