Mt. Bethel ES Gets New Principal

She comes from another school in East Cobb and officially starts on Thursday.

Jessica Appleyard, an assistant principal at Sope Creek Elementary School, is the new principal at Mt. Bethel Elementary School.

Appleyard was appointed to her new post on Wednesday by the Cobb Board of Education and will begin on Thursday. She succeeds Joan Johnson, who is now the principal at Nicholson Elementary School.

Retired East Cobb educator Alice Stouder had been serving as Mt. Bethel's interim principal.

Two other East Cobb schools have had principals leave right before the school year began. Tracie Doe, formerly of Timber Ridge Elementary, and Robin Lattizori, formerly of Dodgen Middle School, have been promoted to area assistant superintendents in the Cobb County School District.

The school board has not yet acted on appointing their successors.
