MUST Ministries Gets $1K from The Art Place

The East Cobb cultural center raised money from its Empty Bowl Brunch event.

Events Director Betsy Mathews received a $1,000 check recently from Mountain View Arts Alliance and The Art Place Mountain View 2011 Empty Bowl Brunch proceeds.

Pottery teachers, staff, and students donated their time and talents to make bowls for The Empty Bowl Brunch. Visitors purchased a $10 food ticket and received a donated bowl.

Volunteers served patrons soup, chili, bread and beverages.

Among other recipients of the fundraiser:

-- Vietnam Vets, $600

-- MVAA outreach scholarship fund, $1000

The brunch has raised more than $10,000 for local charities since its first event in 2002.
