Author Karen White to Have Book Signing

She will appear at a June 8 event at the Book Exchange.

Book Exchange will hold a launch party for longtime Book Exchange customer favorite, New York Times bestselling author Karen White, to celebrate her June release, "The Time Between."

The event takes place at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June. 4. The Book Exchange is located at 2932 Canton Road.

White, who lives in the Roswell area, is the award-winning author of 16 previous novels. While critics may define her stories as southern women’s fiction, White herself prefers her own characterization—she calls it “grit lit,” and her work displays a deep knowledge and appreciation of southern culture, its undercurrents and its many landscapes.

Her latest novel, "The Time Between," is set in the stunning South Carolina Lowcountry and tells the tale of two generations of sisters and secrets. Eleanor Murray spent her childhood on Edisto Island but now lives in Charleston, working at an investment firm to help support her disabled sister, and playing piano at a neighborhood bar.

Offered an opportunity to return to Edisto, she takes on the care of her boss’s grieving elderly aunt, Helena, who is mourning the death of a sister who died under mysterious circumstances. Helena and her sister escaped from war-torn Hungary in 1944 and are well known on Edisto, but little is known of their past. Guilt over the accident that put her sister in a wheelchair and the feelings she harbors for her sister’s husband taint Eleanor’s own past on Edisto.
