Winter Storm Watch for East Cobb Area

The National Weather Service says 1/2 inch of snow is possible.

winter storm watch is in effect for metro Atlanta from Tuesday, Jan. 28, starting at 10 a.m. until Wednesday, Jan. 29, 1 p.m. 

According to the National Weather Service, less than a half inch of accumulation is possible Tuesday afternoon and evening. Here's the NWS timeline for what East Cobb can expect:

  • Tuesday: Slight chance of snow and sleet before 1 p.m. then snow likely with a high near 28. Wind gusts as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation 70 percent. Snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
  • Tuesday night: Snow mainly before 1 a.m. with a low around 18. Wind gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation 60 percent. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
  • Wednesday: Mostly sunny with a high near 36. Wind gusts as high as 20 mph.
The NWS warns that the weather may have a significant impact on roads, stating "snow and ice covered roads will make travel difficult or impossible Tuesday night into Wednesday."
