A Day of Government and Religion

Here's what you need to know to start the day June 14.

1. We get a break from the weather today, the National Weather Service reports. The temperature should fall just short of 90 degrees, and we'll have a steady breeze with gusts up to 20 mph. The overnight low will be about 64. And there's no air-quality alert today.

2. The Cobb County Board of Commissioners is meeting at 9 a.m. today in the boardroom at 100 Cherokee St. in Marietta. If you can't make the meeting, you can follow live updates at East Cobb Patch or watch the county government's broadcast on Comcast Channel 23.

3. You can play a direct role in setting regional transportation priorities by participating in a telephone town-hall meeting tonight at 7:15. Call 888-886-6603, use ID No. 16720, and you can question Board of Commissioners Chairman Tim Lee and Kennesaw Mayor Mark Mathews, who are members of the Atlanta Regional Roundtable tasked with creating a final project list for the July 2012 referendum on a special 1-cent sales tax for transportation. The call will last an hour.
