Weekender: Jazzin', Cleanin' & Sippin', Murder Mystery Solvin'

This weekend is packed with fun from a smooth jazz party, a murder mystery dinner and a beach cleanup followed by free wine. What else could you ask for?

Cool off with the smooth grooves of jazz musician, Kirk Whalum, Peter White and Howard Hewitt. The concert is the conclusion of the Wade Ford Summer Concert Series. Joey Sommerville will be the host. For more information, call 770-819-7765 or visit mablehouse.org.

The Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project, now in its sixth year, helps keep beaches, rivers and lakes across America “barefoot friendly.” In 2012, Barefoot Wine and the Surfrider Foundation, along with community volunteers, are embarking on a tour of 25 cleanups nationwide, stopping in Atlanta. Following the cleanup, volunteers 21+ are invited to attend a Surfrider-hosted celebration featuring Barefoot Wine and surf-inspired fare. To RSVP visit BeachRescue2012.com.

Anyone interested in learning how to implement farm to school activities in their schools and communities is invited to the first Farm to School Symposium Aug. 25 at the Wylde Center in Decatur. Teachers, educators, parents, businesses, farmers and community members can learn all things farm to school, share ideas and success stories and network with others to enhance future collaborations. A mixer will follow at the Wylde Center with food/drinks, music, and raffle prizes, all in the picturesque backdrop of the Wylde Center gardens!
