Walton Earns Top Seed With Coin Flip

1. Walton, Pope teams top seeds -- A coin flip determined the top seed in the upcoming Region 5AAAAA boys basketball tournament. The Raiders, who split with the Wildcats during the regular season, will play either Woodstock or Marietta on Friday. Wheeler has to beat Cherokee Wednesday to reach the state tournament. The Greyhounds boys and girls teams are the No. 1 seeds in the Region 5AAAA tournament. 

2. Pope prevails at sectional wrestling -- The Greyhounds, the No. 1 team in Class AAAA, had four individual winners at last weekend's sectional meet and eye the traditional state tournament this weekend. 

3. Wheeler swimmers earn accolades -- Sean Sloat and Kelsey Maloney established new school records while reaching the finals of the Class AAAAA state championships over the weekend.

4. Immigrant student facing jail time -- Jessica Colotl, a Kennesaw State University student who inadvertently triggered a heated controversy over illegal immigration and education last year, has been indicted by a Cobb grand jury on charges that she gave sheriff's deputies a false statement during the 2010 traffic stop that thrust her into the spotlight. 

5. -- 12 families lost all their possessions in a Friday blaze at the Aventine at Vinings complex.
