Viewfinder: Braves Caravan Comes to Cobb

Jason Heyward and Fredi Gonzalez greet fans and sign autographs.

Kyle Hess arrived five hours early and was still No. 65 in line as the Atlanta Braves Caravan came through East Cobb on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old Acworth resident, a recent graduate of Chattahoochee Tech, was among more than 400 fans who turned out at the Publix on Shallowford Road near Johnson Ferry Road, and brought with him plenty of memorabilia.

The main item: An autograph from Jason Heyward on a Heyward poster that Hess brought with him.

Hess, who said he's been a Chipper Jones fan "since I was seven," showed up at the Braves Caravan event last week in Peachtree City, where he got to see another of his idols, Brian McCann. McCann and Heyward are products of the famed East Cobb Baseball youth program.

Heyward, new manager Fredi Gonzalez and players Stephen Marek, Scott Proctor and Mike Minor were on hand for the East Cobb stop.
