The East Cobb Weekender: Oct. 19-21

Fall festivals, football, art show, 5K race, marching band contest and neighborhood yard and estate sales are among the events on tap from Friday through Sunday.

Another lovely fall weekend is in the forecast for East Cobb, and there's so much to choose from, especially outdoors.

Great Americana Estate Sale -- Hundreds of Americana collection items, from furniture to kitchenware to pottery, clocks sewing machines, fabrics and more, are for sale at 2549 Stoney Brook Lane, in the Holly Springs/Post Oak Tritt area. Emerson Unitarian Universalist Congregation Arts and Crafts Show -- The 4th annual event takes place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the church, located at 2799 Holly Springs Road. For more details.

Walton at Wheeler Football -- The East Cobb high schools renew their rivalry in a region contest important for both teams' hopes of reaching the post-season. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. Friday at Wheeler, 375 Holt Road. For more details.

Chick-fil-A Connect Race Series -- A 5K race and 1-Mile Fun Run begins at 8 a.m. Saturday at Pope High School, 3001 Hembree Road, with proceeds to benefit Schools for Niger. For details and to register.

Mt. Zion UMC Preschool Market Place and Pumpkin Patch -- The seventh annual event takes place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, 1770 Johnson Ferry Road. For more details.

Brownstone Court Yard Sale -- A multi-family yard sale takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 2345 Brownstone Court, not far from Murdock Elementary School. For more details.

Southern Invitational Musical Festival -- Nearly 20 marching bands from around the Southeast will be performing in a day-long extravanza, from 10 a.m. to 10 pm. Saturday. Sprayberry High School, 2525 Sandy Plains Road. For more details.

4th Annual Pawcasso Art Show -- Artwork from students at the elementary, middle and high school levels will be judged, and proceeds will go to help train a service dog for a disabled child. Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Broadway Diner, 1333 Johnson Ferry Road. For more details.

Whole Foods Fall Festival, Local Farmers Market -- The store's second annual event takes place from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday with live music, pumpkin painting and much more. 1311 Johnson Ferry Road. For more details. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., a Local Farmers Market will feature produce, cheeses and baked goods. Cash or check only.
