The East Cobb Weekender: Nov. 2-4

School fairs, faith celebrations and an early start to holiday festivities are among the many things to get out and enjoy.

You can let the East Cobb community know about your event by posting it for free on East Cobb Patch! Include photos, videos and flyers to accompany your information, and craft the words exactly how you like them.

Most of the following events were posted by East Cobb Patch users, so make sure to get out the word about what's happening in your faith community, school, service group, youth and recreational sports organization or neighborhood association.

Mt. Bethel Elementary School Annual Fun Run and Health and Safety Fair -- This 5K run for adults and 1-mile race for students sets off at 8 a.m. Saturday at the school, 1210 Johnson Ferry Road. Afterwards, local businesses will promote exercise and healthy lifestyle habits. Race-day registration for the run is available. For more details. 

Addison Elementary School Community Garage Sale -- Fifth graders are putting on this sale on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the school, 3055 Ebenezer Road. Free admission to shoppers. For more details. 

Mt. Bethel UMC Ribbons & Holly Handcrafted Market -- A wide selection of vendors, crafts and other gifts, as well as holiday decorations, will be on sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the church, 4385 Lower Roswell Road. For more details.

Good Mews Animal Foundation Holiday Sale -- An East Cobb tradition continues at a new venue this year. Holiday items will be on sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Sandy Plains Shopping Center, 1860 Sandy Plains Road. For more details.

Sacred Tapestry UMC Family Fun Fest -- A classic car show, children's activities, food, the Stone Soup Band and a bake sale will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 3000 Johnson Ferry Road. For more details.

Bells Ferry Elementary School Family Fall Festival -- Food, games, prizes, cake walk, silent auction along with craft and specialty vendors will be available at the PTA-sponsored event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the school, 2600 Bells Ferry Road. For more details.

Unity North Church Harvest Festival -- Celebrate the fall and the coming holiday season from 12:45 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the church, 4255 Sandy Plains Road. A ministries fair, music and a meal are on tap. Admission is $8 adults, $6 seniors and $5 kids 10 and under. For more details.

St. Catherine's Episcopal Choral Evensong -- A special service at 4 p.m. Sunday will celebrate the arrival of a new grand piano at the church, 571 Holt Road. The public is invited. For more information.

Hurray for the "old school" which just means having a few manners. Ms. Smith alwaysRead More seems to present three facts after what seems to be extensive research. People can disagree without being rude or spouting half truths. I'm glad we still have some ethical and honest people in our midst.
