Sandy Plains Baseball Team to Honor LeCroy

1. Youth baseball team remembers slain trooper -- The Marietta Daily Journal reports that the 11-Under Sandy Plains Wildcats will dedicate its season to Chad LeCroy, the East Cobb state trooper killed in the line of duty in December. His father is a coach and a brother is a member of the team. 

2. -- Angels Among Us Pet Rescue will hold a pet adoption event Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is also seeking volunteers, foster homes and transportation for homeless animals. 

3. Mt. Bethel choir on Florida tour -- During the Cobb schools break next week, the Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church youth choir will be in Orlando for the Crossfire Winter Tour.

4. -- Lanita Lloyd, the deputy director of the Cobb emergency management office, has been placed on paid leave pending an investigation, and neither she nor county officials are explaining. 

5. -- The Lassiter boys basketball team has qualified for the Class AAAAA state tournament for the first time since 2004.
