Red Sky Fundraiser for 'Sweet Bea'

The East Cobb restaurant is holding an auction next Thursday to benefit a 6-year-old girl with a rare form of brain cancer.

Efforts to help raise money for a young girl stricken with a rare form of brain cancer are being taken up by an East Cobb restaurant.

Next Thursday, will sponsor a fundraising auction for the "Sweet Bea Fund."

Beatrice Tolley, who is six years old, was diagnosed in December with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, which is a rare, aggressive and mostly terminal form of cancer.

She was taken to a local emergency room because her parents thought she was dehydrated with the flu. They had no idea she had a tumor. The situation was so bad that she was airlifted in a helicopter to a local children's hospital within 90 minutes of her initial ER visit and she had to have an emergency tube put into her brain to prevent stroke.

She is undergoing radiation and the hope is that all of her life skills will come back with healing and therapy. Her family is looking into clinical trials and have found a few that are promising.

Beatrice's mother regularly posts updates on the Sweet Bea Fund blog
