Mt. Bethel Delivers Backpack Blessings

Middle school students from the Christian Academy are reaching out to Fair Oaks Elementary School.

Mt. Bethel Christian Academy’s Middle School students met with Ben Hornsby, Director of the Men’s Ministry at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, to learn about the church’s Backpack Blessings Ministry and to see how they could help.

Every Friday, the ministry gives 200 backpacks to students who qualify for the federal free and reduced price meal program at Fair Oaks Elementary School in Marietta. After meeting with Hornsby, the MBCA Middle School students and staff set a goal to raise $300 and donate food items.

“The middle school students, families and staff exceeded many expectations by raising $2,177 and bringing 4,251 food items to school for the Backpack Blessings Ministry,” said Jim Callis, Mt. Bethel Christian Academy’s Head of School.

“This is enough to sponsor seven students for a month. We are thankful for the generosity of our students, their families and our staff. Their efforts will have a positive impact on families in our community and reflects our school’s commitment to serve local and national missions.”
