Little League Parade, East Cobb Market Return

Some ideas for weekend entertainment and leisure options in and near East Cobb.

After some rainy weather got in the way, the East Marietta Little League will hold its season-opening parade on Saturday, starting at 9 a.m.

The parade route begins at Eastside Baptist Church on 2450 Lower Roswell Road and winds up at EMLL's fields at Sewell Park. Opening ceremonies begin at 10 a.m. on Field 3.

The parade was postponed from last week. Some games have gotten under way this week, but intermittently because of rain.

Calling all arts and crafts addicts! The American Craft Council's Atlanta show starts today and runs through Sunday at the Cobb Galleria Centre, with more than 200 of some of the top craft artists in the country on hand.

But if you're a true arts and crafts addict, you probably already know that. For all all of you, as well as more casual devotees, or for those totally unitiated into this world (including yours truly) there's so much here to delve into.

For starters, there's tonight's preview party with the Museum of Design Atlanta that runs from 6-9 p.m. If you're willing to put up $75 to attend, but there's plenty of choice shopping, hors d'oeuvres and more.

On Friday is a Lunch & Learn session at 12:30 entitled: "Craft and the Cure for Stressful Modern Life."

And if you want it a little more lively, there's a $5 After 5 social on Friday that includes reduced admission, DJ-spun music and -- I'm telling you this verbatim -- a Stitch ‘n Bitch with the Atlanta Knitting Guild.

When: Preview Party 6-9 Thursday; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Tickets: $13 a person; $20 for a 3-day pass; free children 12 and under.

Info: 800-836-3470.
