Kids, Seniors, Pets: Where to Donate in Cobb

Don't send your holiday donations abroad—here is a list of Cobb County agencies in need of donations.

‘Tis the season for generosity. Cobb families seek out charities to give donations. Tell us where you donate during the holidays, or any time of year.

Here's a list of county agencies in need of donations:

Animal Shelter - You can help make a difference in the lives of animals housed at Cobb County Animal Control. Money received will be used to help pay for the care of animals. There are volunteering opportunities, too.

K-9 Donations - The K-9 unit is a vital part of police department’s efforts to protect Cobb County. Police canines perform a broad range of essential functions, including patrol activities, narcotic detection and bomb detection. The police department is accepting donations to aid in the operation of the K-9 unit. Funds will go directly to help replace retired canines and help pay veterinarian expenses and other costs associated with the dogs’ well-being.

Keep Cobb Beautiful - You can buy all-occasion greeting or holiday cards, or simply make a donation.

Keep Cobb Beautiful is a nonprofit organization established in 1984 by the Cobb County Board of Commissioners. Its purpose is to assist the County and Board in establishing, promoting and maintaining a countywide policy for improved environmental and waste management. Keep Cobb Beautiful is made up of concerned people from all walks of life joined together to help the public become more aware and concerned about environmental issues.

Meals On Wheels - A $25 donation helps Meals on Wheels, a very special program that delivers a hot meal to homebound seniors, exist. Volunteers deliver meals 251 days out of the year. Each day, Senior Services prepares 150-180 meals (more than 40,000 a year) to be delivered to our eight pick-up sites. More than 400 volunteers not only make sure that a hot, nutritious meal is served, but also that each client is made to feel special with personal visits. All clients are encouraged and given the opportunity to make a donation, but no person is turned away because of inability to pay. There are volunteering opportunities, too.

Safety Village - You can order a custom brick with your name or donate to help pay for the completion of the new Safety Village. The bricks will be used in a special walkway so, in the future, you can bring your children and grandchildren to the Safety Village to see your name and their names as permanent legacies. You can create your own message or choose from selected designs for your brick.

Senior Wellness Center - Choose from a cookbook, personalized brick or granite bench to help pay for the building of the new Senior Wellness Center.

These are wonderful opportunities to spread holiday joy by supporting services within our community!

I'll be there; rabbi Alper should be good (his You Tube videos are entertaining). CongratulationsRead More to Henry Hene and the Habitat coalition for doing such wonderful work and promoting "We Build to Coexist, We Coexist to Build." Congratulations to Addie and Harvey Schneider -- both are the definition of mensch.

Hurray for the "old school" which just means having a few manners. Ms. Smith alwaysRead More seems to present three facts after what seems to be extensive research. People can disagree without being rude or spouting half truths. I'm glad we still have some ethical and honest people in our midst.
