Holiday Events In and Near East Cobb

Hiking, partying, worshipping, patriotic singing and a parade.

1. The Chattahoochee Nature Center is holding a Night Hike from 8-10 p.m. Saturday. Stay cool and perk your ears for the possible call of an owl. 9135 Willeo Road, Roswell. 

2. is having a Red, White and Blue party Saturday starting at 10:30 p.m., preceded by its regularly scheduled Team Trivia extravaganza. 1318 Johnson Ferry Road. 

3. The subject of  Rev. Brian Germano's message Sunday is "God Bless America?" The Retro Praise service begins at 9:30 a.m., with a traditional worship and patriotic hymns at 11 a.m. 2325 Roswell Road.

4. Mount Paran North Church is offering a free Fourth of July event at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Celebrate the Fourth with fireworks and patriotic music featuring the Georgia Symphony Orchestra. For information, call 770-429-7016 or go to georgiasymphony.org. 1700 Allgood Road. 

5. A full day of July 4 celebrations in Marietta kicks off with the Marietta Freedom Parade 2011 at 10 a.m. Monday from  and along a route that travels past Marietta Square. The city’s Fourth in the Park also includes free live concerts, museum tours, an arts and crafts show with more than 80 vendors, food, carnival games and fireworks finale. The whole event includes 110 entries, 2,000 participants and an estimated 30,000 spectators.

A fireworks finale starts at dark. Other events include a National Bell Ringing ceremony at 2p.m. and a parade awards ceremony at 2:15 p.m.
