Enough Already

Here's what you need to know to start your day May 25.

1. On this day when Oprah Winfrey finally says enough to her daytime talk show, the weather will be more of the same for us, just a couple of degrees warmer, according to the National Weather Service. That means it will be sunny and dry with a high of about 91 degrees and an overnight low of 66. The wind will pick up and gust as high as 20 mph in the afternoon.

2. Unfortunately, the weather isn't changing much in the Midwest either, and this horrible tornado season is likely to keep battering the center of the country over the next month, the Weather Channel's experts said Tuesday night. Nothing matches tornadoes for the terrifying combination of power and randomness. And to see storms barreling down on Joplin, MO, after a tornado killed more than 120 people there Sunday was devastating. If you want to help the folks of Joplin and others hit in the Midwest, at South Cobb Patch.

3. While we'd love to say "Enough!" to the violent spring weather, this is the day seniors are saying "enough"—or perhaps "So long, and thanks for all the fish"—to high school. Graduation is at 7 p.m. at the KSU Convocation Center, and you can watch it live online if you can't make it to Kennesaw. Congratulations to the Raider Class of 2011.

4. As of 11:30 a.m. for the high schools, 12:30 p.m. for the middle schools and 1:30 p.m. for the elementary schools, all of the Cobb County School District's 98,000-plus nonseniors get to say "enough" to the 2010-11 school year as their summer vacation officially begins. Teachers' last day is next Wednesday. We seem to about the Aug. 15 start of the 2011-12 school year.

5. The Cobb County Board of Commissioners approved the Johnson Ferry Urban Design Plan and the at Tuesday night's meeting. What's missing is money to turn those plans into reality; there just isn't enough.
