East Marietta in Braves Tailgate Contest

The Little League organization will compete for Publix gift cards at Saturday's game at Turner Field.

The East Marietta Little League contingent was named the Publix "Tailgate of the Game" at the April 28 Atlanta Braves game.

Winning that contest -- which included a recording of the team yelling "Play Ball" that was played on the big screen at Turner Field -- earned the youth baseball organization a chance to compete in Saturday's Grande Prize Finale.

The Braves have invited EMLL back to compete for Publix gift cards during Saturday night's game with the Mets.

It's the final homestand of the season for the Braves, who also are celebrating the career of retiring third baseman Chipper Jones.

The winner of the most festive Braves/Publix tailgate will receive a $1,000 Publix gift card. Second- and third-place winners receive $500 Publix Gift Cards. Any prize that East Marietta wins will be donated to the organization.

The East Marietta group will gather in the Turner Field Green Lot at 4 p.m. Saturday. First pitch is 7:10 p.m.
