East Cobb Park Friends Seek Donations

Funds are being requested to help pay for tree damage from Friday's tornado.

After ripped out dozens of trees at East Cobb Park, efforts have begun to replace them. 

The Friends for the East Cobb Park organization, which raises private money for various park expenses, has announced on its Facebook page that it is seeking donations for new trees. 

The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF-1 tornado, with winds of 100 mph, touched down in and around East Cobb Park, uprooting trees, downing power lines and causing some damage to nearby buildings and as far away as the Providence Square Shopping Center and Johnson Ferry Road.

On Saturday morning, East Cobb Park staff and volunteers and feeding them into mulching machines.

In addition, HOCOA Atlanta, a home repair network which serves homeowners in Cobb, North Fulton and other areas, is asking East Cobb homeowners reporting storm damage to call 770-971-7714 for assistance.
