A Long Night in Wicks Lake

A busted fire hydrant and an accidental gas cutoff caused some inconvenience in an East Cobb neighborhood Wednesday.

Wednesday was a wet night for some residents in the Wicks Lake neighborhood, but it can't be blamed on any rain.

Between 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., a car knocked over a fire hydrant at the intersection of Wicks Lake Drive and Angelisa Trail, sending water down two hilly residential streets.

A resident told East Cobb Patch that as water maintenance workers were repairing the hydrant, gas lines were accidentally cut, and that residents could hear "super loud hissing" until gas crews arrived.

Full water service was restored to the affected homes by around noon Thursday.

Getting out of the East Cobb subdivision for the Thursday morning commute also required patience and an alternate route due to maintenance equipment still located in the area.

Wicks Lake, located off Murdock Road, opened in 1974 and has 82 homes.

I'll be there; rabbi Alper should be good (his You Tube videos are entertaining). CongratulationsRead More to Henry Hene and the Habitat coalition for doing such wonderful work and promoting "We Build to Coexist, We Coexist to Build." Congratulations to Addie and Harvey Schneider -- both are the definition of mensch.

Hurray for the "old school" which just means having a few manners. Ms. Smith alwaysRead More seems to present three facts after what seems to be extensive research. People can disagree without being rude or spouting half truths. I'm glad we still have some ethical and honest people in our midst.
