East Cobb Food Scores: All A's

The latest inspections by Cobb Public Health include visits to Cazadores Mexican Restaurant and Starbucks.

Each item on an inspection form has a point value ranging from 1 to 9 points, with violations deducting points from a best possible score of 100. A sample inspection form is attached. Higher points are taken for items with higher risk to cause illness, while repeat violations take even more points. Letter grades assigned are A for totals of 100 to 90 points, B for 89 to 80, C for 79 to 70, and U for less than 70.

East Cobb Food Truck Returns Tonight

The "School's Out" event at Paper Mill Village includes charity donations in partnership with Sope Creek Elementary School.

The sun's out, school's almost out and Paper Mill Village is having another food truck event from 5-8 p.m. tonight. The flyer just about says it all; thanks to Leigh Taylor of the Wilbert Group for letting us know.

Yarbrough to Speak at ECBA Luncheon

The MDJ columnist is the special guest for Tuesday's event at Hollycrest Hall.

Dick Yarbough, a columnist for The Marietta Daily Journal, is the guest speaker at Tuesday's monthly luncheon of the East Cobb Business Association. The luncheon is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hollycrest Hall, 2235 Sewell Mill Road. Yarbrough is described as "a Southern philosopher, political pundit and straight-shooting humorist all rolled into one. Seen weekly in nearly one million households throughout Georgia, his column is an artful mix of comedy and candor that leaves readers amused, inspired or enraged, but always engaged!" Thousands Attend Business Expo at Cobb Galleria

More than 150 local businesses showcased their products and services Thursday at the Cobb Chamber Business-to-Business Expo.

More than 150 local businesses had to opportunity to showcase their products and services Thursday at the Cobb Chamber Business-to-Business Expo. The free event attracted thousands of attendees at the Cobb Galleria Centre right here in the Smyrna-Vinings area. Cobb Chamber Chairman Greg Morgan said this year's expo has been the largest one the chamber has ever held. Exhibitors included Keep it in Cobb, which encourages residents to buy local, and business associations from across the county.

Big Daddy's Headed for BBQ Festival

The East Cobb-based food truck business will be competing at Brenau University over the Memorial Day weekend.

Press release: The Big Daddy's Bar-B-Que cook team from Marietta, Ga., will compete in the fifth annual Brenau Barbecue Championship festival May 24-25 on Brenau University's campus in Gainesville, Ga., which features competition categories from the national Memphis Barbecue Network and the Georgia Barbecue Association. Roger Jay is the team captain. Brenau's annual fundraising event for scholarships is a catalyst for community activity on the Gainesville campus. This is the first year that the event will feature both the MBN and GBA cook teams and the winner from each association will earn an automatic bid to the World Food Championships in Las Vegas with a chance at fame and a piece of $300,000 in prize money. Expo to Showcase Cobb Businesses

Thursday's event starts at 3 p.m. at the Cobb Galleria Centre.

The Cobb Business-to-Business Expo, a free event that drew more than 1,600 people in 2012, is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Thursday at the Cobb Galleria Centre. This year, the expo will feature former Atlanta Braves player Javy Lopez, who will sign autographs in the LOUD Security Systems booth. LOUD is just one of more than 150 local businesses that will showcase their products and services at the expo. Other exhibitors include Keep it in Cobb, which encourages residents to buy local.
