Winter Weather Comes to Cobb
Light snowfall arrived in East Cobb on Wednesday, and the forecast extends to north and central Georgia tonight.
Some light snowfall came to East Cobb Wednesday afternoon, the day after a mild but wet Christmas Day.
The National Weather Service has issued a special weather advisory for north and central Georgia through this evening. No accumulation is expected, except for areas in the north Georgia mountains, and no more than a quarter of an inch.
Metro Atlanta missed the threat of tornadoes that swept across the Gulf Coast area on Christmas Day, stretching from Houston to Mobile.
As heavy rains on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and into Wednesday faded into light showers, temperatures dropped into the high 30s in East Cobb by mid-Wednesday afternoon.
Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing, to around 30 degrees, Wednesday night, with partly cloudy skies.
A wind advisory is in effect for the metro Atlanta area until 10 p.m. Wednesday, with gusts reaching to more than 40 mph.
Thursday's forecast calls for sunny skies and warmer temperatures into the high 40s, with wind gusts around 20 mph.
Temperatures will fall well below freezing on Thursday night, into the high 20s, but no more rain is forecast until the weekend.
