Walton High School is holding a memorial service Thursday night for orthopaedic surgeon Hugh C. McLeod III.
McLeod, 61, died of leukemia Friday in Houston, according to an obituary published by the Staunton, VA, News Leader.
The Mississippi native and University of Mississippi graduate was the founder of East Cobb’s Atlanta Orthopaedic Specialists and established the sports medicine program at Walton High.
The high school’s Hugh C. McLeod Wellness Complex and Sports Medicine Center was named in his honor in 2001.
The memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday inside Raider Valley.
His family has asked for memorial contributions to be made to the wellness complex, the Georgia chapter of the Arthritis Foundation or the Lymphoma & Leukemia Society.
