Taste of East Cobb, MUST Team Up
The "Cans to Taste" hunger drive will exchange canned food donations for tickets at Saturday's festival.
When thousands gather on Saturday at The Avenue East Cobb to enjoy the seventh annual Taste of East Cobb outdoor food festival, they will also have the opportunity to help make a difference in the fight against hunger in our community.
Festival goers who bring canned food items to Taste of East Cobb will receive one (1) free $1 Taste ticket for every five (5) cans of food donated. There will be special MUST Ministries food barrels located at the main entrances to the festival, where people can drop off their donated cans and receive their free Taste ticket(s).
MUST Ministries is a faith-based organization that since 1971 has been dedicated to offering services to persons and families in crisis while maintaining their dignity. MUST provides basic necessities such as food, clothes and housing, free of charge, to individuals, families, and children in the Marietta, Smyrna and Canton/Cherokee county communities.
In its fight against hunger, MUST gives out an average of one ton (2,500 cans) of food items every single day. “MUST currently has a shortage of canned tuna, beef, chicken, ham, salmon, milk, pastas, beans, baked beans and pork & beans,” noted Margaret Abrams, a Taste of East Cobb 2012 event coordinator.
“By joining together to support CANS TO TASTE, we will help re-stock MUST Ministries' pantry at the same time we are enjoying wonderful food, live music and family fun at Taste of East Cobb. So on May 5th please remember to bring your CANS TO TASTE!”
