Pope Softball Bids for Region Crown
The Lady Greyhounds battle Creekview for the 7-AAAAA title starting Monday.
The Pope High School softball team plays host to Creekview in a best two-of-three series for the Region 7-AAAAA championship starting Monday.
After being tied at the end of regular season play with Sequoyah, Pope, which is 19-5 and 8-2 earned the No. 1 seed.
Creekview (18-9, 7-2) lost to Pope 3-0 in their only meeting during the regular season.
In that game, Pope pitching star Kelly Barnhill threw her fourth no-hitter in five appearances, striking out 18 batters.
The Lady Greyhounds closed out the regular season Thursday with a 10-1 win over River Ridge. They have won 13 of their last 14 games, with their only loss coming to Milton during that span.
