First-grader Matthew Beatty wins grade-level competition in handwriting contest.

Shallowford Falls Elementary student Matthew Beatty has been named a Georgia grade level Winner in the Zaner-Bloser National Handwriting Contest that attracted more than 220,000 students nationwide during the recent school year.

Matthew, who just completed the first grade, received an engraved Zaner-Bloser State Winner Medallion for his honor. His teacher, Mrs. Candice Davies, received a rosewood box and pen, and the school was given a $200 Zaner-Bloser coupon.

Zaner-Bloser’s handwriting program has been a national institution for several
generations. It is one of the premier publishers of research-based reading, writing, spelling, handwriting, and vocabulary programs.
