Immigration Hold Follows Cobb Traffic Stop

An East Cobb man is one of 10 people booked on ICE detainers Monday in Cobb County. This arrest information was supplied by the Cobb County Sheriff's Office. It does not indicate a conviction.

What began as a red-light violation by an East Cobb man Monday turned into an immigration and fake-ID case, according to records.

Felix Roman Herrera, 26, of the 1100 block of Highland Drive was arrested after a traffic stop for a charge of running a red light. He then had two more driving charges added: no proof of insurance and using a revoked or suspended license.

That’s when it became more serious.

Herrera also is charged with a felony, unlawful manufacturing of identification documents, punishable by up to three years in prison. And he’s being held under an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer.

He was one of 10 people booked into the county jail on ICE detainers Monday. The others:

  • Jose Mendez, 24, of the 1900 block of Cardell Road, Austell.
